AWARD WINNING OLIVE OIL
The 2009 harvest has yielded a superb product. The AOC Aix-en-Provence was awarded a bronze medal in the 2010 Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur regional olive oil competition and the Goutte d'Or in International Competition at the 2010 Montreal Trade Fair.
This is a blend of local varieties of olives which produces a very fruity, strongly flavoured extra virgin olive oil. The main varieties used are Salonenque and Aglandau. This is a well-structured and well-balanced oil which can be used cold, in salads, on grilled fish, or used in your every day cooking including shallow frying.
The predominate flavours and aromas are of fresh grass, foliage, fennel, artichoke and green tomato. The Salonenque gives a wonderful rich, fennel flavour to the oil, while the Aglandau adds piquancy and peppery overtones.
